About Northern Lights
1980 MAPLE LEAF 48
BUILT BY COOPER MARINE BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA DESIGNED BY STAN HUNTINGTON
Built as a go-anywhere offshore cruiser "Northern Lights" has a taller sail-plan and a 120 hp diesel engine to help get you to where you want to go. Big, beamy, a powerful design, the Mapleleaf 48 sails flat and fast. Her center-cockpit surrounds you with high-back portection. An aft cockpit with a transom door leading to a swim deck makes boarding from a dingy....easy.
Two large cabin, one forward, one aft, both have private head compartments. The galley is large yet well fitted for use underway. The main cabin is huge comfortable and friendly. There is a passageway leading to the aft cabin. In the passageway there is access to the engine room.
"Northern lights" is berthed in a private slip at Pier 39 near Fisherman Wharf San Francisco. In 1980 it was sailed from Vancouver Canada to San Francisco Bay. It was primarily used as a "second home in the city" for the family. The family has owned the boat since it was new. The parents have passed away. The children have no interest in keeping the boat. It is actively for sale.
